Principal Purpose of Job: The Assistant Manager is responsible for assisting the Volario’s / Cafe Giocondo’s General Manager with all front-of-house operational duties, including but not limited to opening the restaurant, closing the restaurant, assisting with scheduling, progressive discipline, training, inventory, ordering, managing line level crew and conflict resolution.  As the Assistant Manager, you will also be expected to work Barista shifts (or any other role needed in day to day operations) and guiding our guests through the key phases of their dining experience.  As an Assistant Manager, you will be assuming the role of tour guide, communicator, decision-maker, entertainer and leader.  The Assistant Manager is responsible for up-holding the established steps of service, as well having superior product knowledge, answering questions pertaining to food preparation and recommending appropriate course and wine pairings.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Overseeing and handling upkeep and maintenance of the Cafe Giocondo’s premises
  • Opening and closing of the restaurant to standard
  • Assist GM with Scheduling
  • Assist GM with Regular and Special Trainings
  • Inventory and ordering
  • Progressive Discipline / holding crew accountable according to standards 
  • Preparing all specialty drinks and food per specified recipes
  • Follow proper cash handling and payment guidelines
  • Making proficient and accurate sales transactions using a point-of-sale system
  • Maintaining accurate cash drawer balances
  • Directing guests to areas/restrooms
  • Demonstrating impeccable product knowledge
  • Suggestive selling - using proven techniques 
  • Maintaining a clean and organized work area
  • Maintaining proper product pars – through stock pulls & inventories
  • Stocking coffee, food and glassware throughout the shift
  • Properly labeling, dating, covering and refrigerating prepped items
  • Maintaining proper dishwasher procedures– properly checking chemical mix, sanitizing equipment, utensils, and glassware
  • Performing opening, closing & side duties – setting up/breaking down the barista station, cleaning glass/counter tops, sweeping the floor, etc
  • Answering questions - accurately and politely
  • Supporting and contributing to the mission and overall success of Vasquez Creek Inn
  • Follow proper steps of service outlined by management
  • Handling customer feedback and concerns-ensuring five-star level service.
 
Job Requirements include:
  • Performing duties which require bending & reaching
  • Lifting & transporting up to 50-pound bus tubs (in some locations) and stacked plateware/glasses from dirty tables through “arm service” 
  • Standing or walking on the floor, for up to 8+ hours
  • Maintaining a well-groomed appearance
  • Following all uniform guidelines
  • Practicing all safety & sanitation standards
  • Recycling products, where possible
  • Remaining calm in a hectic, fast-paced atmosphere
  • Demonstrating a high level of organization, attention-to-detail and sense-of-urgency

Physical Demands:
  • Performing duties which require bending & reaching
  • Lifting & transporting up to 50-pound dining chairs, booster seats, high chairs, and food/drink orders (from bar & kitchen to guests’ tables) – if applicable, emptying trash cans weighing up to 100 pounds
  • Standing (expo) or walking (server), for up to 8+ hours
  • Maintaining a well-groomed appearance (“having a plan”)

Education/Experience:  21 years of age; High School Diploma or GED, 2-3 years experience serving in a fast paced restaurant. 1 year of supervisor or management experience.

The position you are being hired for is an all inclusive “Food & Beverage Staff” position.  The Assistant Manager will also be cross-trained in the Host, Back Server, Barista, Server and Bartender positions.  These positions may become rotated responsibilities and used as volume and/or staffing needs dictate.
